How to Root Mi A1 with/without PC

Mi A1 comes with only one variant 4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM and expandable up to 128 GB. It has 5.5 inch Full HD Display, 12MP + 12MP Dual Rear Camera, 5MP Front Camera and 3080 mAh Li-polymer Battery. This phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 64 bit Octa Core 2GHz Processor. It runs on Android Nougat 7.1.2 (Stock Android Version). Android One Smartphone is confirmed to get upgrades to Android Oreo and Android P.

Rooting Mi A1 is very easy to root now but some people are not able to do it. So, here are two processes to Root Mi A1 with/without PC.

There are two apps – KingRoot and KingoRoot. Both these apps can root the phone in one click. You just have to install the app in the phone and select one click root option.

Rooting Mi A1 with PC

Before starting the process make sure to backup all your data, enable USB Debugging mode in your phone and charge your battery atleast more than 70%. Also you have to Download the below files:

TWRP Recovery - Click here to download (You have to search for your device)

First of all you need to have an unlock bootloader on your device. To know how you can unlock bootloader on your phone ‘Click Here.

After bootloader is unlocked on your device, you have to flash TWR recovery and in order to do that you need to boot your phone into fastboot mode. To do that switch off your device and press "volume down + power button".

Now connect your USB cable to the phone and your PC/Laptop.

Now you have to open the ADB folder which you have downloaded and then right click and open the command window. You will see a command window and there type "fastboot devices". After that it will recognise your device and then type the command "fastboot flash recovery 'twr file name'.(dot)img". For example: fastboot flash recovery twr-3.0.2-2.img. Make sure to use TWRP recovery for your specific device. You cannot flash some other device TWRP recovery.

Once it is done hold "Volume up + Power button" and you will be booted into TWRP recovery. If it asks to enter a password then click cancel and then select wipe and then select format data. Make sure to backup all the internal files as it will wipe it.

After the format is over, click reboot and select recovery and it will boot into recovery mode.

Now copy the Lazyflasher zip file and SuperSu zip file from your PC to the internal storage of the phone. Come back to phone and click install and there select SuperSu zip file and then swipe to confirm flash. Navigate go back and select Lazyflasher zip file and swipe to confirm flash. And then simply you can reboot your device.
